Tara and I joined Mark White, our associate producer at White Crow, to head out to the West Coast of the USA in early October. In LA, we met with the head of sales at Panavision, Hugh Jackman’s executive assistant and Fox lawyers to talk about Show me the Magic.  Next stop was San Francisco to attend SOCAP – Social Capital Markets Conference – and the GOOD Pitch.  We were joined in SF by Sean Tierney from Microsoft, and met wtih acclaimed conservationist Willie Smits and our partner at Orangutan Outreach, Richard Zimmerman and had a full day planning meeting on the project, which included Mike Furdyk from TakingITGLobal via Skype.  I was on a panel at SOCAP and wowed the audience with the teaser for an ACTION Movie 3D, edited by Josh Dawson.  Over the four days of the conference, we connected with over 60 people and organisations aligned with the project. We had a screening of The Burning Season at a very cool venue called The Hub, and secured interest for US educational distribution. During our week there, I connected up online with the DeforestAction schools across Asia, told them about the project and showed the teaser. This was masterminded by Terry Godwaldt based in Calgary. I then headed to Montreal to meet with Jan Rofekamp, our international distributor for Show me the Magic, and to experience Montreal in the autumn. I also spent a day in Toronto at the offices of TakingITGlobal, the world’s largest non-profit educational social network, to advance our collaboration with Mike on the online and interactive aspects of the ACTION Movie 3D. Tara headed to LA for a week of sightseeing and Mark went to spend his birthday with his family on the east coast.
